Hi All,
Last night the BBC hosted a group of 15 boys from a local community group called Iconz. We all arrived at 6:30 and set up 5 karts for them to share and give blokart sailing a go. For most of them it was their first time using a blokart, and judging by how many blokart grins we had at the end of the night they all loved it. We had a nice gentle 10 knots of wind and set up a short course of 200 meters going up and down the concrete strips with them crossing the grass at the turns. It was great to see so many enjoying themselves for their first time out. After a brief talk and instruction everyone got to have at least one turn and nobody capsized, but everyone got to spend some time on two wheels which was a real buzz for them. It all finished around 7:30 as the wind died away to 5 knots, although the boys did not want to get off the karts which was great to see. During the times that they were not on the karts, we had demonstrations of setting up a blokart and more about how to sail faster which went really well.
A big Thanks to Kevin, Stuart Cooney and Phil O’Kell for helping out.
Regards
Richard Harrison
