I just wiped a dob of black silicone sealer over the hole left by the missing button and it is like new.

Hi Grant,

Last time I lost a GPS button to the main sheet rope, I followed Haydn's recommendation of using a hole punch and an old tube to make a new button. Works fine although not quite as water proof as before but it works.

I have been using a Garmin Forerunner 201since 2005 for blokarting, and I am on my second one.  Both have developed faults where the buttons stop working.  Garmin have been totally unresponsive about the recurring problem, and the last time it was replaced under warranty. To get it fixed now will cost more than a new one, as it has to go overseas and I have to pay freight, plus USD69.

Does any one have a dead Forerunner or Foretrex that I can scrounge the keypad off?  I have the unit apart and it is easy to swap over (in case someone else is interested)

Also, buyers beware – has anyone else had my problem. Pity, they are otherwise an excellent product.

Regards,

Grant
