While we may individually or collectively consider security at any or our military establishments a bit farcical, it exists and we must conform if we want access. At no time have I suggested otherwise. The information requested  on rego and passengers was supplied directly to Phil Ready as requested. The response to Gary's message was entirely directed to his comment about having registration numbers displayed on jiglu. Which for the reasons I've already given, couldn't as far as I'm concerned matter less.

Sorry, but any further correspondence on this already 'beaten to death' subject will be ignored.

It's just that it is a privilege to have an event there Peter, ( wished I could have made it ) and if you don't comply with security regulations,
(they need to know of every vehicle and personnel on the base,)
we can't expect to get back there for any further events, an incident last year caused more than a 48 hour  ' No Go' security blanket over the base,
caused by, believe it or not a run away bag, (blown by the wind)  which when first sighted looked like a  'Unidentified  Foreign Object' or package
up against a building thats how sensitive they are there.

There is nothing wrong with my registration appearing all over jiglu, which (I thought) was precisely what I implied. IF my vehicle had been stolen, repossed or under finance then I might have more reason for not wanting it known, as it stands, I really don't care.
Never has one throw away comment produced so much missinterpretation by so many for so little point.

Why Peter ? what is wrong with it 'appearing all over jiglu' when you actually stated ''there is a little plate front and
back that proclaims its registration number to the world''.
I scratch my head over that one.

My comment related to the prospect of my vehicle registration number appearing all over jiglu and had nothing to do with the security rules at Ohakea. For the reasons I gave, I really couldn't care less if that was to happen.

It is accepted that my details along with my vehicle registration and any passengers would be required by the base security at Ohakea, even if our airforce consists of obsolete aircraft most of which either have been or are about to be mothballed.

Perhaps because it's an Air Force base, it's their base, their rules.

I work for a company based in the US. To visit me I'm supposed to fill out forms 24hrs before you arrive at our "visitor system" giving details like this. This is a rule for "Homeland Security".

You have a simple choice.....

If everyone that is coming can send the vehicle details and names to me and CC Phil as a back up (I don't think you want it all over Jiglu)  will get the list together.

Later on next week if the details change or more need to be added then txt or phone me on 021 2207327.

Gary

Thanks Dave G I have your names already.

Subject: [blokart] Blokart at Masters Games 2009
Importance: High

Hi there

Just 12 days to go before the Blokart event of NZ Masters Games 2009

Venue: Ohakea Air Force Base

Now, this is VERY important:

If you know of anyone that has registered or is intending to go and help/watch etc, please let them know, it could be a long way to travel, to be watching from other side of fence!

We need you to send the registration number of the car you will be travelling onto the Base in, + names of anyone travelling with you, failure to do so will lead to delays in your Security clearance and could mean you are watching from the other side of the fence!  We need this BEFORE 2nd Feb. Sorry about the short notice, but I’m sure you will get over it.

Watch out for more updates, text or ring me before leaving if you have been away from your email...

It is going to be AWESOME!

See you there

Cheers

Phil
