Hi Phil and Paulette,
Just a short note of thanks for making the Australian Open Possible.
WE just arrived home a couple of days ago and are settling into getting the orchard ready for harvest….. next week!!
We enjoyed the event yet again and the venue was well worth a second visit.
My highlight was on the third day of sailing when after prize giving a couple of us sailed South to Yeppoon. The dry creek which was now flooded from the recent rain, but we sailed through it…..hahaha a bit deeper than expected! But the 30 knot winds (thanks to cyclone Harvey) got us through……. navigated between the rocks and sailed the beach outside the Local Yachting Club (with huge glass panels and full of lunch time patrons), doing a couple of tacks and jibes there, lifting a wheel etc you know/?….. With $20 in my pocket we completed the challenge by signing in at reception (covered in sand and a little wet, we are now honorary members of the Keppel Yacht Club…… just for that day!) bought a beer at the sports bar and had with a leisurely drink at the outside lounge overlooking our standing-blokarts….awesome …..challenge complete, we did a couple more laps outside the Club and headed north. Great venue for club racing!
Looking forward to my next challenge…. Namibia
Cheers,
Don
