Great to have everyone (30 odd) turn up for 2nd race day of our winter series. Many thanks to all the travelers and locals that turned up to help make the day a huge success. Divided the group into 3 divisions with Flys, lights and middles in one, heavy's in another and super heavy's in another.
We tried various courses but the windward/leeward seemed to be the most popular on the day.
Great to see father Ted back in good shape after he and Helen's big OE. They got back at 2am this morning so his little "tip over" is understandable given the jet lag factor. Not sure what Craig's excuse was but he kept us entertained with broken masts, trying to mow down observers and that hat cover!!
Then there were the missed marks and failure to recross the start/finish line by several people, including Debs, Leslie (who managed to not tee bone anyone this time!) and including current world heavy weight champion Russell and current Australian heavy weight champion, Nicko. (You would think they would know better!).
Good to see Owen back out mixing it with the rest after shoulder problems, and still holding his own.
Winds were light to variable (against forecasts) which saw lots of sail changes as the day went on. Current NZ Masters champ, Wayne O showed us how to make a 4 metre spit out the 5.5's.
Also great to have a couple of newbies to the sport including Frank and Shane. Welcome to the steep learning curve of competitive racing. We are all more than willing to share our secrets of how to go fast! Hope to see you guys again soon.
Our young guns, Ben, Izaac and Cody showed that age (young) is no barrier and did well against seasoned veterans.
Nick had a new open look to his Blokart, and I suspect it might have been a ploy to prevent the publicized cavity search. All up a great day with 6 races per division, so 18 races all up! Not bad.
Great to spend time with all of you today, and looking forward to the next event. Next BBC race day is 14th June. Quite a few other events happening but put on your calendars new events, 4th and 5th July for North Island champs at Ohakea air base (this is one awesome venue) plus NZ Open for 1,2,3,4 October at Blokart Heaven.
Race results were very mixed and varied adding to the enjoyment of the sport.
Results will be up on Jlap website soon.

Cheers,
Theo

  Hi
Pam here.
just want to say thanks to everyone for the fun day today. Everyone was so positive and the mood out there was great. As I was just an apprentice today, I apologize for any delays or hiccups in the programming, but I was encouraged by all your words of encouragement. Couldn't have done it with out the efficiency of Tom and the patience of Richard!!!!!
Appreciation goes to those who traveled from afar today, your dedication is fab-u-lous.
Look forward to seeing you all next time, until then, take care,

Pam
