Hi to Grant and all
What a great show even if it was practice and one night at the Officers Mess.
We had the privilege of meeting many of the great characters that make up the landscape of a strong club.
It is a pity we were unable to stay for the duration. I have heard some great stories already
Thank you all for your condolences. Tina and I had an awesome time while in Christchurch.
My 91 yr old mum took a fall and bumped her head and within 24 hrs she had left the planet.
We will be back to sample more of the great fellowship and awesome sailing in the future.
Looking forward to 90 mile beach trip
Best Regards
Paul

Subject: [blokart] South Island Open - a huge success!
Many thanks to our hosts the Canterbury Blokart Club for a very well run event and for turning on great sailing weather at a brilliant venue. It was also good to see the good exposure the event got locally - everyone I spoke to outside the of event knew it was on (at the airport - when visiting the relatives, while shopping). The view from the Museum Cafe was first class, and the amenities for the sailers top notch.
Congratulations to the great performance from Team ABC - a clean sweep in performance middleweights, 1st & 3rd in Lightweights, and a third in Heavies. You'll have to wait for the official results from the organisers for the details!
But is was no walkover - the host club are on the pace and close on the heels of the winners - and all the other top-guns from clubs around NZ made it a real battle on the track. So I can see some more people travelling to future events in future!
Sadly missed was our "Guru" who had to leave early because of a close family bereavement, but we held a "silent vigil" as a mark of respect on opening day (Thank you Jim). The Guru would have been proud to see the new friendships and bonds formed that are now part of the blokart way.
Also the teamwork - what you see in the great family that blokarting creates - from the ABC travel arrangements, pooling of freight opportunites, sharing of duties during the event, help with the pack-up at the close of the event - and those great social events.
And finally the great sportsmanship - yes there were a few bumps, scrapes and hairy moments, but those are now all history!
Thanks from and to Team ABC!!
