It couldn't have been better. The wind started light, in fact a bit too light, but this gave the ladies a chance to get used to the blokarts under the tuition of Jenny and Marg. The wind came up and confidence grew with about 10 ladies sailing around the car park plus some newcomers using either there own karts or the demo kart. The guys watched, got the barbeque going, watched, cooked the food, watched, made helpful suggestions, watched. Luckily while Jenny and Marg were taking their sessions, Bruce and Russell did their own with the guys. It went as follows:
1.00
J and M - looking good in a blokart
B and R - techniques for supporting your partner, "of course you look great with that helmet on", "you look so much slimmer in a blokart"
1-15
J and M - getting going in a blokart
B and R - knitting for beginners
1.30
J and M - getting a bit more speed, faster then walking pace
B and R - techniques for overcoming nervous tension
1.45
J and M - what to do if you tip over
B and R and Haydn - the basics of sail repairs
2.00
J and M - dealing with loose gravel

2.15

B and R - relaxation techniques for beginners
2.30
J and M - starting a race
B and R - the basics of chassis straightening
3.00
J and M - cornering at speed
B and R and Dave - lake retrieval methods
3.15
J and M - what happens if you get beaten by your partner
B and R - simple recipes - cooking for one
3.30

B and R - negotiation techniques, how you get the NEW blokart?
4.00
J and M - how to dismantle a blokart
B and R - advanced techniques for reassembling a dismantled blokart.
Overall a very successful day and I can see some more active members joining our fun. Thanks to Jenny and Marg for the time and effort in getting everyone going. It wasn't long before everyone was confidently cruising the car park. The barbeque and food was great, the guys got back in the blokarts just after 3.30 for a quick blast before packing up and some of the ladies carried on in some of the spare karts. The photographic evidence will be posted on the website in a day or so. Let's talk about a bulk deal for those now purchasing another blokart!
It has been suggested we hit the beach next weekend now we have those ladies up and running and this might just tip the balance towards the NEW purchase for a Xmas present! Later this week once I get an update on weather will make the call as tides are good both coasts. (Don't say anything about where the sand ends up!)
Thursday night, fun night.
