mast storage bags

I saw some mast storage bags that some guys brought back from NZ. Are these available thru Blokart or are they being made third party? They look like a great way to store and protect the mast pieces. Does anyone have specs or photos of these bags?

Ricky Greba (is it really ricky?)

I think Sean and I both bought one and brought back from NZ. You can have a good look at ours on Sunday. They are third party made. In addition Doug Carlson made one for himself using a really cool heavy duty sewing machine he bought new last winter. I'll see if I can pry it loose from his hands so you can look at his also.
See you at Metro,

A bag for CRB can be useful. They tend to break or split once you dropped them an hard surface…

Sorry Nico,

The NZ guys from smartgroups a year or so ago should know what I am talking about... Bit of a joke from the last time mast bags were “advertised” on smartgroups.

So hows things in Belgium? Just about time to get the ice blades out?

I think i remember that…

We’re not that up north here in Belgium you know. We still get over 10°C here. Then again there’s no snow in the Alps either. Must be global warming…

To be honest, we don’t have the lakes nor the cold temperatures to get them frozen!

We had our nationals last month with 54 competitors. Lots of wind. Great event

See you next year during the worlds

Sounds great... Will see you there.
Just started getting some of the stuff sorted for the worlds. Venue will be great with some of the mods being spoken about. I am sure some more information will be released soon regarding schedule, format etc. The Auckland Club has a great team working on it as I type.

Ross.

NICO!

Does this mean you ARE coming to Worlds next year even though it is so close to the Europeans? If so, gud-on-ya mate! Will Anne and Louis be coming also?

Ross,

Just put the blades on today. But am across that other pond from Nico here in Michigan USA. Has been below freezing here for a week. Minus 5 or 6c at night and enough to form ice on the inland lakes. However, as is normal, a week of freezing makes ice but it is what I call "dumb idiot ice." That is if one is "dumb" enough to venture out on it, he is an idiot! Do not despair, there is lots of winter left.
Just as a tease though, I set DarKart up at the lake (the very close edge of the lake) and took some photos. If I sent them to you as an attachment is there a way to put them up on mailspaces?

Mike

Not sure about putting them up on mailspaces... Send them to me and I'll stick them on my website and send out the link.

Ross.

I have one of the newer sail bags that lets me store my 4 meter sail unfolded, so my original sail bag was surplus to requirements. As I had nowhere to store my recently acquired CRB, I got my wife to cut down this bag from the blind end to suit the length of the mast sections with approx 50mm free space at each end. I then bought from Foreman Insulation, a 2.5 meter section of foam pipe insulation with a 38mm internal diameter and a 25mm wall thickness. The mast sections were given a coat of Dry-Lube and slip inside the foam tubing quite easily. The two foam tubes complete with mast sections inside, slip into the modified bag quite snuggly. The bag still has the zipper and blokart logo so looks quite smart while providing exceptional protection for the fragile mast sections.
