Hi Guys,

I am pleased to announce that our Wigram Weather Station is now live online at

http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/?lat=-43.47999954&lon=172.55000305&zoom=10&pin=Christchurch%2c%20New%20Zealand   save this link for now to access the data. I will add a direct feed to our website asap.

The page you get to shows the wind across central Canterbury.  Click on the icon on Wigram (Just by SH 73A icon on the map) and then on the hyperlinked ICANTERB41 in blue for more data from the station.

The Weather Station was funded by the Canterbury Blokart Club, installed by Barry and Dave with an old laptop supplied by Peter to run it.  The Museum host the station and provide the internet data - great team work!!.

Welcome,

With the holiday season just around the corner and the Club has mapped out a schedule of sailing opportunities at our Club’s venue at Baypark. Some of us are away and some are working through so to accommodate visitors from other Clubs we have come up with the following dates and times.

Sunday 20th Dec 1pm -4pm Baypark Adhoc sailing wind forecast 17knots westerly

Wednesday 23rd Dec 3pm -6pm Baypark Adhoc Sailing wind forecast 15knots westerly and a little wet

Sunday 27th Dec 1pm – 4pm Baypark Adhoc sailing

Wednesday 30th Dec 3pm – 6pm Baypark Adhoc sailing

Sunday 3rd January 1pm – 4pm Baypark Adhoc Sailing

Wednesday 6th January 3pm – 6pm Baypark Adhoc Sailing

The sailing programmes will be of a relaxed nature, we will have a portable manual count down and timer for those who want to have friendly racing.

I have several phone numbers for visitors and if any other visitors from other Blokart Clubs are in town please forward your numbers for any last minute changes or advice of unscheduled events. (off-line)

We hope that the schedule is of help for planning your holidays for you staying within the district and Visitors from other clubs.

Cheers,

Don

This is great Don.
I assume you first had to arrange your working schedule and then the rest is for play time?
Hope to see you there after the New Year.

Well done Dave & Team.  This will no doubt be visited a lot during the build up to the South Island Champs. I'll get Nick to Wigram this to the BAI web site (like the other stations we have there) - http://www.bai.co.nz - Venues:

Our popular spot at Bruce Pulman Park (nearest site Ardmore) is http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=IMANUKAU2 if you want to see how our wind is.  Normally we get a few knots more that this station shows, but combined with the Auckland Airport site we get a pretty good picture of what's happening.

We have similar stations at Ohakea and Ninety Mile Beach that we can refer to.

And I have home on as well - http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=INIAUCKL2.

I may set up another site just over the hill from Omaha over Christmas / New Year using the old laptop we used for RaceDay.

Happy sailing - looking forward to the February 2010!

Grant
