Hey Dave can you put me down for a new speed record for Ohakea 88.6 km/h Wind was West 25 knots gusting to 34 knots
It was using a 2m sail going up Foxtrot and onto main runway (90/27) (is that how it is referenced Gary?)
Plenty of witnesses, Ian Timperley was holding GPS for picture (actually it was his GPS, mine was not working and he had 83.9km on it when I borrowed it)

What a great day and a good way to finish up for Xmas, A BIG thanks to Gary!

Have a good Xmas everyone
Catch you in the wind
Cheers
Phil

PS can you stick me on the board quick, because Bernie will be wanting to put in a claim for 94.7km !!!

Yikes – do tell! Where, when, who (you?). You may not have had a lot of wind in the capital this year, but this makes up for it big time! ). 0.7 kph more than Wayne's record on 10 July 2007!

Hi All,

The Bay Blokart Club kicks off their first Raceday of the season on Sunday January 24th. Gear Up from 11 am, race registration 12 to 1245 and Briefing and Race start 1pm. Wind forecast is currently 11-12 knots Westerly with a little could.

There will be the normal five split weighted categories to ensure ‘like weights’ competing against each other, classes maybe amalgamated to optimise course capacity.

Club Race Fees, $10 per racer or $20 for an immediate family concession, Visitors POA.

Everyone welcome to this new racing track and you can tell us what you think over a BBQ after Racing finishes.

Cheers,

Don

Welcome,

The Bay Blokart Club had a very successful AGM yesterday where Ted McDonald was elected for President and Tom Scott as Secretary/Treasurer.

The Day was followed by the Clubs first Raceday with 23 competitors and some still away on holiday and some visitors having a go on this new track.

The field was split into two heats which saw some very close racing. Ross Ludwig, Gabe and Deb winding through the 600m course and Cody and Isaacs making good starts in the eight round raceday.

Well the other two classes were no less competitive, at first the 4m sails did not have the acceleration power of the 5.5 coming out of a broad reach roundings. With the winds settling at 12knots and gusting at times to 15 we saw some fast grass crossings often leading to slides causing loss of speed letting the others using the long route catch and pass with more traction and continuous momentum. Les, Theo, Richard, Andrew.... quite a few actually, were right up there really, Colin. R, Owen, Trevor....

The Track, surprisingly, saw us still completing laps under a minute, fastest was 50sec in the last race on a 580m course!

A great Day  and a promise of more continued good times.

Good luck to the travellers heading to  Christchurch for the South Island Champs in a couple of weeks.

Recreational sailing available this Sunday for club members 1-4

Welcome,

The Results for our first race day is now out, been there since Sunday but have been waiting for spreadsheeting. (still not there)

Please note that the standings report order is in the right order and I am just tweeking the headings for next time, also look to extreme right for race by race performance....(position, laps, overall time, round)

For individual race results with timings, splits lap by lap, then just select the race that you got pipped at on the last lap...or whatever... and see?

And, the fasted lap of the day on the long course 580 to 600m is 42sec by

Richard H.
