Hi Everyone Karioitahi Beach is looking good for tomorrow afternoon. Forecast is for WSW winds 15-25 knots. Roger, Ray Kelly and I will be down there from about 1.00 pm.

Does anyone have any experience sailing at Karioitahi? I tried a few weeks ago, and my tires kept getting stuck in the sand... is there a trick to it? A particular time? Low tide or mid tide?

Count me in Russell Tom Scott

Talk about "day shar view". Its developing a bit like 2 weeks ago. There is a prediction of W/SW winds for Saturday 20 knts but dropping to 10 during the day. 20 would be great, 10 would be hopeless.

Hi R&R Happy new Year I've just been up to Waipu for New years day for Highland Games.

Hi Jort, Not to much tire pressure and or a bigfork helps to.

Wow, what a blast. Not as much wind as predicted but enough to make for a fun afternoon. Alex joined us from Hamilton. Ray met up with an ex-pupil and his wife who have just moved to Waiuku.

15+ blokarts turned up at Karioitahi to make the most of the low tide and onshore winds.

Good SW winds Sunday so let's head for Karioitahi about 12.30 onwards. Please sail slowly past surfclub southward about .5 km before hitting top speed. We'll meet there and set up some beach sailing.

Hi Jort, We’ve done a huge amount of sailing on this beach, and Rowena and Roger know it best (as they have hire experience there). From my experience:

El Zorro 06 March 2009 13:43

Jort ABC sail there all the time. Some hints.

A steady 12-13 knts at Karioitahi yesterday, almost 90 degrees to the beach, meant good fun sailing for the 6 who turned up.

What a blast! We got that 30 knots (plus a few higher gusts as well) and Russell tried out the 2 and the 3m, using me as the “control” with just a 3m. The results – very interesting!

Accidentally left my Blokart branded gloves (size L) at Karioitahi beach last Saturday 20th on the carpark guardrail beside the grassy area next to the ramp. Anyone see them on Sunday?

Hi Hot Dogfish I gotta agree that MAKO has a nice ring to it. Sounds more sporting too! The sail looks like a fin. MAKO was looking pretty good in the race results until had had to withdraw on Sunday.
